BEI Medical Systems Company, Inc. was acquired by Boston Scientific Corporation in June 2002. Prior to the acquisition, the company was engaged in the manufacture and marketing of a proprietary and minimally invasive endometrial ablation system, the Hydro ThermAblator (HTA), which represented a major advance in the treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, a condition known as menorrhagia.
